Coaching and Quality Systems CIC is a Community Interest Company with the specific aim of:

Providing Benefit, through Professional Coaching, to the Communities in the Forth Valley Region of Central Scotland

The Company is a Social Enterprise, CIC, and Private Company Limited by Guarantee, incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 by the Registrar of Companies for Scotland on 27th April 2010 - Company No 377615. It is regulated under the Companies (Audit, Investigations and Community Enterprise) Act 2004 and the Community Interest Company Regulations 2005 with an asset lock for the benefit of the community in Forth Valley.

The Company operates autonomously from political activity and is subject to checks and balances provided by CIC regulation. Transparency of directors' remuneration and use of assets is presented through an annual community benefit report which is open to public scrutiny.

Some Key Features of a CIC

The "community interest company" brand is distinctive in describing a company working for the benefit of the community.

A CIC limited by guarantee, or limited by shares under schedule 2, is considered to be a "not for profit" company.

There is no limit to the level of profit a CIC is allowed to make as this profit will be used to benefit the community it was set up to serve.

The CIC has greater flexibility compared to a charity in terms of its activities.  It does not have trustees and its directors can receive reasonable remuneration.  This enables a tight structure to encourage good business decision making in the interests of the community.

A community interest company has continuity of purpose - once it is incorporated it will continue in existence until it is either dissolved, or converted to a charity.  If it is dissolved the residual assets will be preserved for the community rather than distributed to members.
